Gerald Lysaght

The Hall and Club were donated to the village in 1923, by Gerald Lysaght, a local industrialist, land owner and philanthropist, for the benefit of his estate workers.

He also built the local almshouses, donated land for the war memorial and increased the ring of bells in St. Andrew's church from six to eight.

He was also a friend of the explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton.
